Premium @DappRadar

Designing a paid developer experience in a Web3 ecosystem

In 2025, DappRadar faced a business downturn and needed to unlock a new revenue stream without disrupting the core product.

The platform already served thousands of Web3 developers submitting and maintaining dapps. Time, team capacity, and technical resources were limited – large-scale refactors or new standalone products were not an option.

The goal was to monetize existing value quickly by implementing a crisis-driven solution, using current infrastructure and user behavior.

Dashboard

The dashboard was redesigned to simultaneously solve two goals:

  • give developers instant feedback on their dapp performance,

  • and clearly demonstrate the value of Premium at the point of daily usage.

Premium dapps are visually differentiated and receive an explicit Boosting Power multiplier, directly connected to visibility and ranking mechanics.

For non-premium dapps, the interface intentionally highlights the performance gap and introduces a clear upgrade CTA, creating a strong contrast without blocking core functionality.

This screen acts as both:

  • a control center for active projects,

  • and a continuous reminder of Premium’s benefits.

Submission Form – Entry Point

A streamlined 3-step submission flow: project info → plan selection → checkout.

The form was redesigned for clarity and speed, with a stepper, improved validation, and a cleaner UI. Premium benefits are surfaced early in the process, the Premium plan is pre-selected to reduce friction, and payment is completed before submission. A clear success state confirms the upgrade and smoothly returns users to the dashboard.

Landing page

A focused landing page explaining Premium value in one screen.

Built to support the in-product flow, not replace it.

Subscription management

Centralized billing for multiple dapps (since Premium plan works as "one dapp - one plan").

Developers can manage plans per project without extra support or manual actions.

Result

Premium became a functioning revenue stream within weeks:

  • Paid upgrades increased steadily month over month

  • 100% of new developers were exposed to monetization during submission

  • Onboarding turned into a consistent monetization touchpoint

Despite a high price point and imperfect subscription logic, Premium validated demand and delivered real business impact under tight constraints.

Learnings & Reflection

In hindsight, the ideal model would separate:

  • One-time services (Fast Track, extended badges)

  • Subscriptions focused on long-term value

Premium was strongest in the first month, when review speed mattered most, and the NEW badge was valuable.

Future iterations should:

  • Unbundle transactional services

  • Add subscription-only value (e.g. AI assistant like Hivemind)

  • Shift from “access” to ongoing leverage

This case reflects real product work under pressure — balancing business urgency, user value, and technical reality.
