Research @DappRadar

From blog to data-driven research product

As DappRadar’s content output scaled, Research outgrew the format of a traditional blog section.

At the same time, the business needed new revenue streams that wouldn’t require rebuilding the core product.

Research already had:

  • strong editorial value, everyday traffic with 3000+ users/day

  • constantly expanding list of articles and reports (at least 2 per week)

  • and partner interest (BGA Reports, Blockchain Ecosystem Reports, Dapp/Chain Reviews, etc.)

but lacked product-level structure and visibility.

Problem

Research at DappRadar historically lived as a content-heavy section. Articles were valuable, but hard to navigate, poorly connected to the core product, and invisible as a standalone product asset.

As the content library grew into thousands of articles and reports, users struggled to:

  • discover relevant materials,

  • understand the structure of the research offering,

  • and see clear value beyond individual blog posts.

From a business perspective, Research also lacked:

  • clear monetization surfaces,

  • and product-level positioning inside the DappRadar ecosystem.

Constraints

  • Large existing content archive that couldn’t be restructured from scratch

  • Need to integrate Research into the main product without breaking navigation/layout patterns

  • Limited development capacity → focus on layout, hierarchy, and UX clarity, not new content or complex solution creation

Solution

I redesigned Research as a first-class product surface, not just a content feed.

Key decisions:

  • Dedicated Research entry point in the main navigation

  • A new Research homepage that introduces scope, structure, and value at a glance

  • Clear content grouping: most popular categories are grouped and shown by a shortcut

  • Topic-based navigation with filtering and in-context search

  • Visual prioritization of:

    • featured content,

    • learning paths,

    • and high-impact reports

To support business goals, we also introduced:

  • featured / partner placements as a native part of the layout,

  • and clear upgrade paths without blocking free access.

Result

Research evolved from a passive content section into:

  • a structured knowledge hub,

  • a discovery-driven experience for both beginners and advanced users,

  • and a scalable surface for future monetization.

Users can now:

  • navigate the full research library intuitively,

  • explore content by topic and intent,

  • and move seamlessly from articles to learning paths and reports.

For the product, Research became tightly integrated with the core DappRadar experience and positioned as a long-term strategic asset rather than supporting content.
